PRESERVING HISTORY, CIVIL WAR PRESENTATION GRADE M 1850 STAFF & FIELD OFFICER UNSIGNED SAUERBIER SWORD
A very fine and handsome 1850 Staff & Field Officer's Sword of presentation quality, with eagle quillon, ornate scabbard, and original sword knot. The sword has added engraved details to the pommel and guard that seem to match the cast details on the scabbard mounts. The grip is very handsome black rayskin, with twisted gilt wire wrap. The quillon is especially nice, being an eagle's head that is peering backwards. The scabbard body of brightly nickeled or chromed, with ornate cast brass mounts. The blade is beautifully etched, with a slanted US” and an American Eagle with Union Shield on its breast. Dimensions: The blade is 32 inches long, and the sword overall in its scabbard is 39 inches long.
