    Description

Up for bids is an original 1840's Eagle head sword. This style sword was used from the Mexican War into the Civil War. The eagle head sword has a federal style eagle with patriotic shield in the clamshell guard. The handle and guard are in solid condition, no movement. The guard and eagle head have a nice patina. The sword measures full length roughly 30 1/2".  The sword blade has been shortened at some point. The blade measures roughly 25 3/4" long. I would guess the sword blade has been shortened about 5". I could not find any markings on the blade. The blade has a few small nicks and a few small dark spots. Overall a neat early American patriotic relic sword. Please feel free to email any questions.
