This is a tropical shrub discovered in Africa that produces lots of great tasting berries with an amazing effect!
The protein they contain called Miraculin makes sour acid taste sweet!! even more than any kind of sugar or substitute!
The effect will make you feel any acid food completely sweet for even 2 hours! Eat a lemon straight afterward and it will be sweet!
It usually takes 3-4 years for the plant to grow 4-5 feet tall. The miracle fruit is produced between the tree's little leaves, a small bright red, berry about 3 cm long which contains single big seed.
It is best to keep your tree protected during its first year for better and faster growth.
This plant is an excelent option for making your own BONSAI tree!
Growing:
This plant is hardy to about 32F (0ºC), and will stop growth when temperature is less than 55F (12ºC). Protect in the winter if you live in cold area. It requires good drainage and always moist soil, mildy acidic soils are a must, alkaline ones are no good for him. Best grown on organic soil with some added sand or perlite.
