    Description

    US Civil War Model 1840 Musicians Sword with Scabbard.
    The ricasso is marked "Horstman" over "& Sons." over "Philadelphi", and on the reverse is
    a kings head stamp which stands for Weyersberg of Solingen
    . There are no other markings anywhere. The brass grip and guard are tight.
    The blade
    is straight, unsharpened although the tip is sharp, and there are some small age spots scattered throughout but mostly on the lower half. The scabbard is solid, the stitching is tight, and a lot of the surface leather has come off (mainly on the backside) leaving the brown underside.
    W
    asher is intact on sword but the one in the mouth of the scabbard is only half attached. Length of the blade is 28 1/4" (13/16" wide and 5/16" thick), the sword is 34 1/2", and overall in the scabbard it is 35 5/8".
