    Description

    U
    S Civil War
    Model 1850 Non-Regulation
Sword with Scabbard. The ricasso is unmarked. The iron guard and grip are tight, the leather is 98% complete but most of the twisted wire is gone, just one row remains by the pommel cap. This guard is unusual, it does not have an eagle on it. The guard and grip have been painted brown. The blade has an etching of a soldier and a block "U.S." on one side, the reverse has an Indian and a cursive "U.S.", both sides also have scrolls designs. Overall the blade is straight, unsharpened, the tip is a little sharp, no nicks, and has light scratches from the scabbard going on/off. The scabbard is solid with a couple small dings, there is some pitting mainly on the middle section, and the whole thing has been painted brown. The leather washer is intact. Length of the blade is 33 1/4" (1 1/18" wide and 3/8" thick), the sword is 38 1/4", and in the scabbard it is 41".
