    Description

    U
S Civil War Model 1840 Wristbreaker Heavy Cavalry Officers Sword with Scabbard. The ricasso is marked with a rabbit head over "FP" which stands for Frederick (or
    Friedrich)
Potter, sword maker of Solingen, Germany. The guard is tight, the grip is slightly loose due to missing 80% of the leather, but
the twisted wire wrap is complete and loose
. The blade is straight, has a nice even patina, looks unsharpened except for the last 6" towards the tip, also has a few nicks in that same 6" area, light surface rust scattered throughout, and the tip is sharp. The scabbard is solid and has one small dent. The leather washer is missing. Length of the blade is 36 1/2" (1 1/4" wide and 5/16" thick), the sword is 41 3/4", and in the scabbard it is 42 7/8".
