    Description

    US Civil War Model 1840 Musician Sword.
    The ricasso is marked
    with a rabbit head which stands for Frederick (or
    Friedrich Poeter)
    Potter, sword maker of Solingen, Germany
    .
    The brass grip and guard are tight. There is a hand dotted "JB" on the cross guard, on the
    knuckle guard is what looks like "Dec. 13th" and a few other illegible things on both sides.
    The blade
    is unsharpened, a few minor bends, several nicks along the edge, the tip is blunted, and there is pitting with light surface rust scattered throughout.
    W
    asher is missing. Length of the blade is 28" (15/16" wide and 5/16" thick) and the sword overall is 34 3/16".
